About the department

The Department of Architecture was established simultaneously with the opening of the institute, that is, in September 1966, under the leadership of the first rector of the institute, Candidate of Architectural Sciences, Professor RR Abdurasulov, in order to prepare highly qualified architectural specialists for our country.

Currently, the Department of "Architecture" is a leading institution in the Republic for training highly qualified personnel in the field of "Architecture" and specialties. During the study process, students receive comprehensive training in the field of architecture, acquire the skills of a systematic and creative approach to solving professional problems. The department works in close cooperation with industry enterprises to train students, focusing on training in accordance with the changing requirements of the market economy, and on maximum practice orientation for employers.

The Department of Architecture has been constantly developing and expanding as one of the main departments that train specialists at the university. Today, 62 professors and teachers work at the department. Of these, 5 are doctors of science, professors, 12 are candidates of arch., associate professors, 4 are doctors of philosophy in architecture, 15 are senior teachers, 15 are teachers, and 12 are intern teachers.

The department's distinguished scholars in the field of architecture, Professors ASUralov, KDRakhimov, DZKamalova, and Associate Professor MBKhudayarova, are currently members of the Scientific Specialized Council for the defense of doctoral and candidate dissertations of the Samarkand State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering.

Professor AS Uralov, who was awarded the highest title of "Honored Youth Coach of the Republic of Uzbekistan", is considered the pride of not only our faculty, but also our university.

Currently, several professors and teachers of the department are members of the Samarkand Regional Urban Planning Council and act as authors of many projects being implemented in the Samarkand region.

In accordance with the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On measures to further improve the system of personnel training in the field of architecture and construction” dated November 8, 2022, the Department of “Architecture” of the Samarkand State University of Architecture

-       “ Samarkand State Architectural and Construction Design Research Center ” (head – Tokhirov Aziz);

-       “Urban Planning Research Center” (head – Zoirov RZ); -       The Center for the Development of Architectural and Construction Projects for People with Disabilities (director - Rakhimov LA) was established.   The Department of Architecture  offers the following specialties: 60730100 - Architecture (bachelor's degree), 70730101 - Architecture of Buildings and Structures, and 70730102 - Urban Planning and Landscape Architecture (master's degree).

The head of the department leads the department, performs coordinating and supervisory functions.
